How the rankings work
What the numbers are, which channels are in, and how often they change.
Where the numbers come from
Every subscriber, view and video count is YouTube's own public figure, read through the official YouTube Data API. We don't scrape YouTube, estimate counts or adjust them.
Which channels are ranked
The rankings cover a hand-picked list of large channels that Vid0 tracks, across music, kids, entertainment, gaming, sports, news and more. A list is a ranking of those channels, so a big channel we don't track yet won't appear. Channels that hide their subscriber count can't be ranked and are left out.
How channels are ordered
By subscribers, biggest first. YouTube rounds public subscriber counts to three significant figures (for example, 45,912,000 shows as 45,900,000), so channels often tie. A tie goes to the channel with more total views.
Countries and categories
A channel's country is the one its owner set on YouTube. Some big channels set none, so they appear in the worldwide lists only. YouTube doesn't give channels a category, so the categories here are Vid0's own grouping, based on what each channel mostly publishes.
How often the lists update
Numbers are fetched from YouTube again every 6 hours. Each page shows when its numbers were last updated. We keep one reading per channel per day for 30 days, shown on its channel page, then delete it. If YouTube can't be reached, the pages show the last numbers we have, never more than 30 days old, with the date they were fetched.
