Is Vid0 safe?

Last updated 23 October 2026

Short answer

Yes. Vid0 connects to YouTube with read-only permissions: it can never upload, edit or delete anything on your channel, and it never asks for your Google password.

Signing in only shares your Google name, email address and picture. Connecting a channel is optional, and you can remove Vid0's access at any time.

What Vid0 can see

When youPermissionWhat Vid0 gets
Sign in with Googleopenid, email, profileYour name, email address and profile picture. Nothing from YouTube.
Connect your channel (optional)youtube.readonly, yt-analytics.readonlyYour channel's videos and stats, and its YouTube Analytics reports (retention, traffic sources, revenue), read-only.
Use the Chrome extensionAccess to youtube.com and vid0.inThe IDs of the videos and channels on the page. The page itself, your history and your searches stay on your device.

What Vid0 can't do

With those permissions, Vid0 can't:

  • Upload, edit, delete or unlist your videos
  • Post comments, like videos or subscribe as you
  • Change your channel's settings, titles or thumbnails
  • See your Google password, or anything in Gmail or Drive

In YouTube Studio, the extension can paste a title idea, description or tag into the form when you click it. Nothing changes on YouTube until you press Save.

How your data is protected

  • HTTPS everywhere, with HTTP Strict Transport Security on vid0.in and the API.
  • Google OAuth tokens encrypted before they're stored (AES-256-GCM for channel tokens, with the key kept outside the database); short-lived access tokens only in memory.
  • The database is encrypted at rest. Passwords are hashed with scrypt, and API tokens and sign-in links are stored only as SHA-256 hashes.
  • Production access is limited to the operator, with multi-factor authentication.
  • Card details go to Polar, our merchant of record. Vid0 receives your plan and billing status, not your card number.

How your data is used

  • Your Google data is used only for the features you use: never for ads and never to train AI. Vid0's use of it follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
  • Vid0 doesn't sell personal data or use it for advertising.
  • It's shared only with the providers that run Vid0 (Google, Cloudflare, Vercel, Railway, Neon, Anthropic, Nebius, Resend and Polar), as each one needs. The AI providers don't train on it.

The Privacy Policy has every detail, including what we keep and for how long.

How to remove Vid0's access

  • Press Disconnect on your channel in Vid0: it revokes the grant with Google and deletes that channel's private analytics and tokens straight away.
  • Or remove Vid0 from your Google account's third-party access page.
  • To delete your whole account, email [email protected]. It's done within 30 days, except records the law requires us to keep.

Questions

Does Vid0 need my YouTube or Google password?
No. You sign in through Google's own page, and Vid0 only receives the permissions you approve there. It never sees your password.
Can Vid0 change or delete my videos?
No. The YouTube permissions Vid0 asks for are read-only (youtube.readonly and yt-analytics.readonly), so it has no way to upload, edit, delete or comment.
Can using Vid0 get my channel in trouble with YouTube?
Vid0 takes no actions on your channel. It reads data through YouTube's official APIs under YouTube's API terms, and never posts, likes, comments or changes anything for you.
Is Vid0 affiliated with YouTube?
No. Vid0 uses YouTube API Services, but it isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by YouTube or Google.
What does it send to Vid0?
The IDs of the videos and channels on the page, so we can look up their public stats. The page itself, your history and your searches stay on your device.
How do I report a security issue?
Email [email protected]. We review security reports promptly, and we'll tell you and the authorities about any breach that affects your data, as the law requires.
